Our latest Nature Day took place on 14th September; it was a great day with lots of children and adults exploring the reserve, pond-dipping, insect sweeping and taking part in craft activities. A local expert, Isobel, was able to identify quite a number of birds, animals and insects in just a couple of hours at the reserve. Here is a list of what she found just by the pond and meadow so doesn't even start on the woodland...
Red Admiral butterfly, Speckled Wood butterfly, Meadow Brown butterfly
Male & female Common Darter dragonflies & Southern Hawker dragonflies
Male Broadbodied Chaser dragonfly, Blue Tailed damselfly
Crane fly, Hover fly, Green shield bug
Honey Bee, Tree bumblebee, White tailed bumblebee
Lesser Waterboatman, Greater Waterboatman, Pond skater, Carrion crow
